Island prepares for annual 4th of July celebration
July 4th arrives Saturday
Residents of Deer Isle and Stonington are busy preparing costumes and floats for the traditional joint Independence Day parade down Main Street in Deer Isle village on the morning of July 4, 2009.
Fireworks will light the sky over the waters of Deer Isle Thorofare in Stonington (photo below from Greenhead Cove with Isle au Haut in the background) in the evening, assuming the thick fog of recent days goes away.
